Qi Gong
The Qi Gong taught by Gayla is called Eight Treasures. It is an ancient, low impact, mind-body practice which integrates movement with meditation. “Qi” means “life force or energy.”
“Gong” means “cultivation.” This practice is appropriate for people of all ages and levels of well-being. This form can be done standing or sitting if necessary depending on one’s personal fitness. There are at least 25 positive benefits on one’s physical, psychosocial, and total quality of life.
The Warm Up exercises
which are called “The Foundation”
consisting of gentle movements and tapping on the body’s energy channels called meridians. All the movements are considered anti-arthritic! This part includes several self care movements for healthy hands, beautiful faces, and anti-dementia.
The second part
is a selection of movements from the Eight Treasures Qi Gong which in total consists of 32 movements. These are movements that activate the internal and external flow of Qi energy throughout the body, increasing energy, well-being, flexibility, and homeostasis. These specific movements may also strengthen the Deep Immune System!
The Third Part of Class
is done sitting on a chair or stool. It was specifically designed to clean, detoxify, and balance the five organ systems. The use of the colors associated with each of the five elements: water, fire, earth, wood, and metal are guided through each organ system. This powerful meditation can clear blockages and stagnation caused by emotions.
